How It Works

The world is a click away

Follow These Easy Steps

Step 1

Choose an Artist

  • Explore performing artists from around the world through our Find an Artist page. Browse by location, tradition, art form or cultural connection, and discover how cultures connect across communities.
  • Once you select an artist and schedule your virtual visit, explore the full classroom curriculum, including pre- and post-visit activities on each artist’s page.

Step 2

Get Ready

  • Before meeting the artist, students complete approximately 45 minutes of classroom activities introducing the performing artist, their tradition, and their community.
  • At the center of each program is a 12–15 minute documentary, where students hear directly from the artist, experience their work, and begin building connections before the live visit.

Step 3

Meet Your Performing Artist

  • Students join a live 45–60 minute virtual visit led by the artist and moderated by a folklorist, ethnomusicologist, or cultural expert. Through demonstrations, conversation, and Q&A, students engage directly with living cultural traditions.

Step 4

Bring it Home

  • Post-visit activities encourage students to reflect on what they learned and explore their own cultural identities through our Bringing It Back Home lessons. Each program includes hands-on creative projects that can be completed individually or as a class.
